Biography and Awards

I trained in Music and have taught at a school in Ramsgate, Kent for many years, but have been an artist since childhood. Fifteen years ago I switched from an SLR camera to a DSLR and started taking photography more seriously as a hobby. I spend a great deal of time photographing the natural world, with a focus of garden, flower and wildlife photography. I have won many awards in the International Garden Photographer of the Year competition, and was overall winner of the 'Plants' category in the RHS Photography competition in 2020. I am a member of the Guild of Photographers and this in 2023 was Flora photographer of the Year, Natural World Photographer of the year and Overall All-round Photographer of the Year. I am a photographer with the Professional Garden Photographers Association and have won the Garden Portfolio category at the Garden Media Guild Awards in both 2022 and 2023. I write occasional articles for magazines such as Amateur Photographer and exhibit regularly, in regional exhibitions and galleries, I sell professionally printed cards to private clients, local shops and gardens, and give talks to camera clubs live or by Zoom.
